On Wednesday June 10th we will host the youth choir of St. Paul UMC, Louisville, Kentucky. Their concert will begin at 7:30pm. One of the most important things their youth look for is connection with the host families and youth. They would rather stay in people’s homes than any hotel. So, we are in need of families who would be willing to host some of the 40 youth and adults on Wednesday night. They will need to depart on Thursday morning, June 11 about 8 a.m. to get on to the rest of the tour. Please let Pastor Ashley know if you are able to help with housing and how many.

There will be NO Youth Group this Sunday. Enjoy the commercials. Next year we will have a game day party (just REMIND me!!) Does anyone want to host?

Confirmation will be during Sunday School in the youth rooms. We'll talk about Sibling Rivalry...something I think we can all learn from.

The Senior High Retreat is Feb 27-March 1. I need to know by Friday if you want to go. Cost is $70 but we can help with scholarships if needed. I'll email you later about what time we'll meet at the church on Friday the 27th.

Happy New Year!

This Sunday, January 4th at 4:00pm we will have youth council in the fellowship hall for anyone to attend. We will go over the calendar for 2009.

Confirmation class begins January 11th at 4:00pm in room 308. This will be an introduction and orientation to the confirmation process in the UMC. This class is for both parents and students. We will discuss the schedule for the year, the program’s guidelines and requirements, and this year’s curriculum. We welcome 7th-12th graders to the Confirmation Program at First United Methodist Church. As you share in the confirmation process you will have an opportunity to learn about the Christian faith and to know what it means to live as a disciple of Jesus Christ. The confirmation process involves learning, serving, fellowship, spiritual growth, relationships, and fun. We hope you are going to be a part of the Confirmation Program. Please contact Rev. Ashley Abarca-Mitchell at revashley@comcast.net or (434) 296-6193 if you have questions or want to register for the class.

Youth Sunday is January 18th!!! We will be leading all 3 worship services. During youth group we will talk about how/why we worship and plan worship for the 18th. Please let me know if you would like to be apart of the services!

I am in need of people to provide dinner for youth group on the following dates:
